Google Chromebook: An Introduction to a new computing era.

Years ago, there has only been a single category of mobile computing devices, i.e Personal Computers. Then Smartphones joined the battle and evolved to another computing device platform. But there was a question, “is there another category of devices that lies between Laptops and Smart phones?” and the answer came with the invention of iPads and tablets. But now world has new question, “is there another category of devices that lies between Laptops and Tablets?” and the search giant game with a answer. Yes there is. And the answer is “Chromebook”.

If I am not wrong most of people don’t even open their laptop if there is no internet connection. We spend most of our times on a browser. So Google came with an amazing technology. And its “Chromebook”.

What is a chromebook??

Chromebook is a personal computer (laptop) running Chrome OS as its operating system. But the story does not end here. A chromebook gives you a lot more.

  • A lightning fast Boot: if you are a windows (especially 7/xp) user you might have known the meaning of boot. The time taken by the system to start for the first time. And you might have seen the result of it. It can take your patience. But those days are gone with the chromebook. It loads up in seconds. Saves time..
  • No problem of installing and removing software: if you are from windows platform, no one else can understand the headache of installing and removing an application the way you can. Now the applications can be installed and removed with a single click from the play store. Its as easy as that.
  • Long Battery life: now you don’t have to move around with your battery charger as you do with your laptop. As most of the chromebooks are made of ARM processors (and some are with Intel’s new Celeron with Haswell) they provide an amzing battery life of about 11 hours.
  • No user Manual needed: you do not need to learn how to use a chromebook. Its enough if you know how to use a browser. Chromebook comes with Google chrome browser as its primary application. And if you know how to use a browser you can use a Chromebook.
  • No tension of loosing Data: you might have gone through the problem of data loss due to a hard disk crash or while formatting your laptop. But in Chromebook you ll store the data in the cloud. And its safety, secured and globally accessible irrespective of devices and platforms.
  • The Best of Google: If you use most of Google products. Which most of us do. Then this is the best product for you. You will never have a better experience of using Google products than using them on a Chromebook.
  • No Licence / No problem for Update or upgrade: With windows you need to pay some amount for using it. And most of us must be using older version of windows, i.e. XP/7. But with Chromebook you ll always use the latest version of chrome OS and that too for FREE. You don’t have to pay for the licence, neither do you have to pay for the upgrade.

  • 24/7 Internet Connection: You cannot enjoy using this device if you do not have a round the clock internet connection. As everything is based on cloud you need to have an internet connection. But it does not mean that you can’t use the Chromebook. It also comes with some internal storage.
  • No desktop application: You cannot install a desktop application on a Chromebook. But you won’t need them unless and until you are professionally using an application at your work place. You may not be able to install Microsoft Word, but instead you have Google docs. You can do everything that you do with MS Word.

You’ll get 100GB of Google Drive free for 2 years* to safely store all your stuff.
