It seems Google is desperate to integrate the real world and virtual world.
It is very similar to hangouts, but instead of connecting to a friend user will be connected to a proposed expert in whatever field they need help. User has a lots of option to choose from whom to get help depending on their qualification, ratings, availability, pricing etc. Google is also providing an option to user to choose, whether to connect instantly or book an appoint in advance.
Right now there are eight categories of helpouts available which includes Education& Careers, Computers& Electronics, Art& Music, Fashion & Beauty, Fitness & Nutrition, Health, Cocking, Home& kitchen.
Experts can charge fixed price for various categories or else charge per minute/hour for each helpout. The payment is done through Google Wallet. There also an option for free advice. That’s great for people want free information. Google gets 20% of the fee that the experts get from the video chat. According to sources Google is not charging the transaction fee for providers in “Health” category. Google will reportedly conduct a background check for providers of medical consultation to make sure they has valid bona fides.
Google is providing the facility to record the video of helpouts or collaboratively edit that. It is even interesting that Google offers the users full money back guarantee if that doesn’t meet the user’s expectation.
“Help might be a quick answer to a problem you’re having right now, like how to fix your garage door, or how to remove a computer virus; or it might be guidance completing a project, like building a deck,” said Udi Manber, VP Engineering at Google in a blog post. He also added “ it might be learning a new skill, like how to speak conventional French or how to draw a cartoons, or might be general advice on how to improve your fitness or writing.
